Nelson O. Melgar Martinez is a London Fischer law clerk whose practice areas include insurance coverage and commercial litigation.

Mr. Melgar Martinez graduated from New York Law School, where he was a member of the Moot Court Association and the first Latino and Evening Division student to serve as President of the Student Bar Association. He co-founded and served as the first President of the New York Law School Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, SDNY, and received the Dean’s Award for Student Leadership.

Mr. Melgar Martinez interned at London Fischer prior to joining the firm as a law clerk. While in law school, he also participated in the New York Elections, Census, and Redistricting Institute as a law extern; served as a judicial intern to Honorable Alan S. Trust, Chief Judge of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of New York; and worked at a boutique securities law firm as part of New York Law School’s Securities Arbitration Clinic.  

A recipient of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), Mr. Melgar Martinez is active in community activism and service, often speaking at high schools and colleges throughout Long Island about the value of education and the resources available to those who, like him, hail from untraditional backgrounds.  

Outside of his legal practice, Mr. Melgar Martinez enjoys a good book, exploring the natural sciences, and keeps fit by engaging in activities like hiking and kayaking, among other things.
