Jan H. Duffalo represents major U.S., Bermudian and European insurers and reinsurers in complex disputes and transactions. He has over 30 years of experience in counseling insurers and litigating, arbitrating, mediating, and resolving insurance coverage disputes.

Mr. Duffalo handles a variety of coverage claims, including bad faith, environmental liability, products liability, mass torts, employment practices, Directors & Officers, professional liability, and construction defects. In addition, Mr. Duffalo works with underwriters on drafting and revising a wide range of liability policy forms and endorsements.

Mr. Duffalo applies his policy wording expertise in handling coverage claims while his claims handling experience informs his policy drafting. He is equally comfortable zealously litigating on behalf of his clients or providing advice to clients outside the litigation context.

Mr. Duffalo has made presentations to claims handlers and underwriters in the U.S. and Bermuda on various insurance topics. He is a member of the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance and believes that playing pickup basketball in his 50’s makes him a better lawyer.
