Ryan Turner and Jeremy Deitch, both of London Fischer’s New York office, gave a two-hour continuing education seminar to the Latin American Association of Insurance Agencies at their 47th Annual Convention in Hollywood, Florida. The seminar, titled Errors and Omissions Claims and the Evolving Cyber Threat: A Guide for Insurance Agents and Brokers, focused on helping insurance brokers and agents understand their exposure to errors and omissions claims and enhance their ability to avoid preventable exposure. The seminar discussed these exposures, current trends and how insurance coverage works in response to a variety of potential claims. The seminar utilized the presentation and analysis of several actual claim scenarios, the circumstances that led to these claims and explored ways to avoid such exposure. In addition, the seminar examined the evolving potential for exposure to insurance brokers and agents arising out of electronic system and data security breaches. By addressing common information security fundamentals and industry best practices, the seminar provided a basic guideline as to avoiding and/or mitigating risk of cyber exposure.
