Our partners have recently appeared in the Second Circuit, Sixth Circuit, and Ninth Circuit United States Courts of Appeals, and have successfully defeated petitions for certiorari to the Supreme Court of the United States and have prevailed on the merits in the Supreme Court of the United States. We have advanced the law in areas as diverse as construction, maritime law, municipal liability and product liability. Our creative thought and clear presentation increase the likelihood of success on appeal.

A significant appeal in the area of municipal law involving the separation of powers between the judiciary and legislature was handled by one of our founding partners, James L. Fischer. In Spallone v. United States, 493 U.S. 265 (1990), which arose out of alleged housing discrimination in the City of Yonkers, New York, Mr. Fischer authored the winning brief submitted to the United States Supreme Court which reversed the Second Circuit Court of Appeals raising issues of legislative immunity and abuse of judicial power.
