Mr. Capasso was recently nominated and appointed to the New Jersey State Bar Association’s ("NJSBA") Special Committee on Insurance Defense. The Special Committee was recently established to provide the New Jersey insurance defense bar with an opportunity to be heard on issues affecting the insurance industry including pending legislation, potential amicus curiae matters, proposed court rules and other matters affecting claims defense.
NJSBA requested the newly created Special Committee to provide speakers for the Annual Meeting and Convention on “Hot Topics In Insurance Defense Litigation.” Mr. Capasso was selected as one of the speakers and lectured on the issue of “Contractual Indemnification in New Jersey Construction Cases.” The presentation was one of many professional development courses offered for continuing legal education credit at the NJSBA’s annual meeting in Atlantic City on May 19-21, 2010. Over the course of three days, more than 2,000 lawyers, judges and law students took part in over 100 events, setting a record for the highest attendance in the history of the State Bar Association.
